Cork PhD student wins prestigious FameLab competition at Cheltenham Science Festival

Fergus McAuliffe, a UCC PhD student, has won the prestigious 2013 FameLab International competition at the UK Times Cheltenham Science Festival. Fergus is an environmental scientist researching the use of willow trees for treating waste water, but at the festival he chose to speak about the Wood Frog (Rana sylvatica) and its amazing ability to survive freezing and thawing every winter.
